What this covers
Tlāloc (tialoc.ca) is a weather decision tool. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how it's handled.
Weather queries (no personal data)
When you check a weather decision, your browser requests live data from Open-Meteo, an open-source weather API. This request is made server-side — your IP address is not shared with Open-Meteo. We do not log or store your weather queries.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site — which pages are popular, how people find us, and what devices they use. This helps us improve the site.
Google Analytics sets cookies and collects anonymous usage data including:
- Pages visited and time on site
- Approximate geographic location (city-level)
- Browser and device type
- Referral source (how you found us)
Google Analytics does not give us your name, email, or any personally identifiable information. You can learn more about how Google handles data at Google's partner policy.
Cookies
This site uses minimal cookies:
- GA4 cookies — used for analytics (as described above)
- No login cookies — there is no user accounts or authentication
- No tracking cookies — we don't use ad trackers, Facebook pixels, or cross-site tracking
Data retention
Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months. We do not store or process any personal data on our servers.
Third-party services
The following third-party services are used:
- Open-Meteo — weather data (no API key needed, no IP shared)
- Google Analytics — anonymized usage analytics
- DigitalOcean — hosting (Toronto region)
Your rights
Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and Quebec Law 25, you have the right to:
- Know what data is collected about you
- Request deletion of your data

You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
